Law made changes to the Criminal Code of Belarus which came into force from July 19th, 2019.

The confiscation of property previously used as an additional punishment was excluded from the Criminal Code. Instead, the fine will be used as an additional punishment.

The definition of the large and extra-large amount of damage for economic crimes is changed: Large amount of damage was increased from 250 to 1000 basic units (1 basic unit = 25,5 BYN); Extra-large amount of damage was increased from 1000 to 2500 basic units.

Some specific economic crimes were excluded from the Code (article 224 – a violation of the procedure of opening accounts outside the Republic of Belarus, article 232 – making obstacles to the entrepreneur activity, article 234 false entrepreneurship, article 244 – violation of antimonopoly law, article 249 – discreditation of business reputation of competitors.

Article 233 on illegal entrepreneur activity was stated in a new edition (only entrepreneur activity without the license entails criminal liability).

Article 243 on the tax evasion included large amount of damage at least 2000 basic units (earlier 2500 basic units).
