New small industrial zones and clusters in the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan

In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan dated 21 September, 2019, No.PKM-794, measures for the socio-economic development of Bukhara region for 2019–2023 were identified.

In Peshku region, there will be created an industrial zone specializing in the production of building materials, which will be a cluster of the construction industry, while in Karakul region, there will be created an industrial zone for the industrial processing of livestock products that is a livestock cluster.

In addition, 7 regional small industrial zones are being formed on the basis of unused production facilities and state property. External road-transport and engineering and communications infrastructure will be brought to the territory of small industrial zones (hereinafter “SIZ”) and to the production sites of the participants.

When allocating land for business activities within a radius of more than 2 km from the engineering and communications infrastructure, the costs associated with the construction and supply of infrastructure networks are covered by:

  • State budget funds (water and sewage) and local budgets in equal shares for free economic zones (hereinafter referred to as “FEZ”);
  • Budget funds of the respective district (city) for the SIZ operating in the region.

The costs of building and bringing engineering networks up to a distance of 2 km (except for the FEZ) are covered by the funds of the business entity, the project initiator.
