The proposal to create a German industrial zone in Tashkent

During an IV meeting of the German-Uzbek Business Council which was held in Tashkent, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov invited the largest German companies to open their business in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, companies and concerns of the two countries responsible for foreign economic relations, trade, investment, finance, construction materials, agricultural machinery, automotive, chemical, electrical engineering, banking, tourism, services and other spheres.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Aripov, co-chair of the German-Uzbek Business Council, Executive Director of the company “Knauf Gips KG” M.Grundke and others noted that cooperation between the two countries is actively developing in all directions, an important factor is the ongoing work on attracting foreign investment in the country's economy and increasing its attractiveness.

According to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Aripov, the government is ready to provide all necessary conditions for work in the country. In particular, the creation of the German industrial zone in Tashkent was discussed during the meeting.

The Prime Minister hopes that the emergence of such industrial zone in Uzbekistan will help to attract German investments and give an additional impetus to economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Government also proposed creation of a foreign trade chamber in Tashkent together with Germany."We invite our German partners to consider the possibility of establishing a German-Uzbek foreign trade chamber in Tashkent," Aripov said.

Today in Uzbekistan there are more than 5 thousand companies with foreign capital, including 132 enterprises created together with German business people. Development of mutually beneficial and long-term partnership with leading companies in Germany is of great importance. Currently, such companies and enterprises which are leaders in their industry, as "MAN", "Claas", "Lemken", “Knauf” and others are successfully operating in Uzbekistan. Investment projects in cooperation with "Siemens", "Bosch", "Viessmann", "Humana", and many other companies are being developed.

The flow of German investments attracted to the Uzbek economy is increasing. Efforts of Uzbekistan to create benefits and preferences for foreign investors are highly appreciated by the German business community.

It is important to mention that in 2017 bilateral trade of Uzbekistan and Germany increased by 32.5% up to 600 million Euros.
