Amendments to the Constitution were provided within the framework of the reform of the judicial system of Uzbekistan. The Supreme Economic Court and the Supreme Court are united into a single supreme judiciary body in the sphere of civil, criminal, administrative and economic legal proceedings - the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan. A new institution, the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is introduced. It is the body of the judicial community which assists in ensuring of compliance with the constitutional principle of the independence of the judiciary in Uzbekistan. Economic and administrative courts have been established in the judicial system: the economic and administrative courts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent, as well as inter-district, district and city economic courts and district and city administrative courts.
