He started his career as a lawyer and a member of the arbitration board at Almaty Stock Exchang. He also graduated from the school of managers at the Kazakh State Technical University after V.I. Lenin.
In 1992, in cooperation with friends, Tlek Gusman established a firm, which now is one of the leading law firms in the Central Asia and Caspian Region – GRATA International.
Tlek has been the firm’s Senior Partner since its inception in 1992. As such, he has overseen all the large projects, GRATA has been involved in. His background is in corporate, commercial and natural resources sectors. He is an active participant and speaker at international conferences.
With the active participation of Tlek Gusman, GRATA International has established strong partnerships with leading law firms in the world. Following the company policy, Tlek Baigabulov studied management in the most successful companies in the world, practicing in their offices. For example, Denver (USA) in 1994, London (UK) in 1998, Hamburg (Germany) in 1999, New York (USA) in 2004. He also studied management in Clarks University in Boston (Massachusetts, USA) and Luton University in the UK.

Tlek graduated from the Kazakh State University named after Al-Farabi (Almaty), Faculty of Law in 1992.
Membership:
Tlek Gusman is a member of the board of the Kazakh Petroleum Lawyers’ Association, co-author of the book Comments to Presidential Decree On Subsoil, author of several articles in the national and local press.
As a member of the Almaty City Bar Association and the Union of Lawyers of Kazakhstan, Tlek Gusman specialises in protecting businesses against persecution of the fiscal authorities.
A large role Tlek Gusman pays to social work, where the main directions is the creation of a positive image of the country in the eyes of international public, and laws reform.
