Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover reaches US$23.0 billion in January-September

Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover made up US$23.0 billion in January-September 2018 and increased, compared to the same period last year, by 17.2%.

Exports reached US$9.4 billion (down 0.4%), import volume - US$13.7 billion (growth rate 33.3%). Foreign trade balance with a minus of US$4.3 billion 

The share of the CIS countries in foreign trade turnover was 38.6% in January-September 2018 and compared to the same period, the growth rate of foreign trade turnover was 34.4%.

The share of other countries in foreign trade turnover in January-September 2017 was 66.3%. In the current year, foreign trade turnover with them decreased by 4.9% and amounted to 61.4%.

Exports made up US$9.3 billion in January-September 2018 (down 0.4%). The share of goods in the composition of exports reached 75.9%, of which energy carriers and petroleum products - 20.2%, food products - 8.8%, chemical products and products from it - 7.3%.

The volume of export services made up US$2.25 billion in January-September 2018, or 24.1% of total exports and increased, compared to the same period last year, by 21.9%.

The main part of the export of services is transport services, tourism, as well as telecommunication, information, computer and financial services.

China and Russia occupy the largest share in the export of goods and services of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The share of these countries in total exports was 37.1%.

The exported goods to China and Russia include a group of energy carriers and petroleum products, chemical products and products from it, as well as food products.

The volume of exports of fruits and vegetables amounted to more than 873,500 tons and reached US$649.4 million (a growth rate of 50.0%).

From the structure of exports of fruits and vegetables and vegetables, more than 512.600 tons were exported (physical growth increased 2.1 times) for the amount of US$231.4 million, fruits and berries – 229,300 tons (physical growth increased by 20%) in the amount of US$305.8 million (monetary growth, compared to the same period last year, was 58.6% and 64.3%, respectively).

In January-September 2018, exports of textile products amounted to US$968.3 million and increased, compared to the same period of 2017, by 14.8%, which is 10.3% of the total exports. Of the export structure of textile products, the main share is cotton yarn (57.3%), finished knitwear and garments (22.4%). Since the beginning of the year, more than 320 types of goods have been exported to 55 countries of the world.

In January-September of the current year, the volume of imports made up US$13.7 billion (growth rate - 33.3%). In the structure of imports, the main share is occupied by machinery and equipment (40.7%), chemical products and products from it (13.3%), as well as food products (8.7%).

The volume of imports of services was US$165 billion, or 12.1% of total imports and, compared to the same period last year, increased by 21.5%.

Transport services, tourism services, as well as telecommunications, information, computer and construction services account for the bulk of imports of services.

In January-September 2018, goods and services from 156 countries were imported into the republic.

Top 5 major partner countries (the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan and Turkey) in the total volume of imports have a share of 61.0%, which is US$8.35 billion

At the same time, it should be noted that over the past period of 2018, in September, imports were more than in the other months. In September compared to August, the volume of imports of goods and services fell by US$207.3 million, and amounted to US$1.65 billion.
