The authorities of Uzbekistan are planning to create three small tourist zones in the Surkhandarya region. Relying to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Basnoi, Sariasiy and Sherabad zones will be established for the development of tourism in the region.

As it is specified in the Resolution: the Baysun small tourist zone will be located on the territory of villages Omonhona and Darband, in the mountain area of Zabboshi; the Sariasiya zone will be located on the territory adjacent to the mountain system of Khonzhiza and the territory of the village of Sangardak; the Sherabad zone will be located on the territory of village Shalcon, and on the territory of salt deposit and orchards of Khojikan.

"In the small tourist zones will be build modern hotel complexes, cultural and recreational facilities, shopping and entertainment facilities and other essential facility for tourism, besides, it will be build some modern engineering infrastructure facilities. The issues of the development road transport, engineering and communication, as well as production infrastructure on the territory of small tourist zones will be discussed after determination of their specific boundaries”, stated in the Resolution.

It is expected, that investment projects which will be carried out in small tourist zones will be funded by international financial institutions, foreign organizations, donor countries and commercial bank loans, on the basis of gratuitous financial assistance.

Additionally, it is planned that in two months, the measures for further development of the tourist potential of the region will be fully developed and ready for submission to the State Committee for Investments and the Ministry of Economy.
